Don’t Draw a Parallel between Israel-Palestine and Indo-Pak Conflict

The Israel’s Gaza incursions are very much in news now-a-days. Its very easy to believe that India being a large country that it is can wage the same kind of a war on Pakistan as done by Israel. Some points that must into consideration before thinking on these lines

Military Strength: Pakistan is a nuclear armed state which Palestine is not.

International Support: Pakistan has a very strong backing from US and China because its a strategically important partner for both of them. For the Chinese it acts as a very important buffer state between them and India and for the US it is really important due to the war they are fighting in the border with Afghanistan. So before India tries to Inflict a war on Pakistan it has to take these Super powers into confidence.

Other Considerations: India’s is a Blossoming economy. The prime motive of any terror strike is to destabilize the economy, so before jumping into any conflict the economic implications must be taken into account.

Finally before concluding will just add one more point. It is widely believed (in India) that we are a super power and can demolish Pakistan, to say the least we are not a super power by any stretch of imagination. Remember Kargil, we came to know about the intrusions after they had almost succeeded. Even though we won the war we mustn’t forget the amount of human loss that we suffered. All that to regain our own territory.

The best solution for this is to put as much diplomatic pressure on Pakistan as possible. Stop trade, put other sanctions. Persuade the international community to take some action. Definately war isn’t a solution.

Your views are welcome.

Thanks,
Yash

  1. Sir ji.. toh form mai aa hi gaye ho aap!!!!
U are absolutely correct when u say that we are not in a position of war with our "Neighbour" but even if we were in that position "the guns could not protect us".A war can never bring peace, it will only reduce it. Remember US war of Iraq and Afganisthan.
But one comparision which shud be made b/w India and Israel is of Israel's Mossad and its Indian counter part such as RAW and DIA etc.I would also add to ur thought on the aim of Terrorism that it is also aimed at creating "Fear" among the masses and thats what is happenning in our India as of now.

  5. Yes its totally different.I understand that WAR is not an option, but that doesnt mean that we should not take military action. In fact ideally what we should get is create Global Political pressure so that we get access to certain areas in Pakistan and that too In colaboration with the US military resulting in a politically fair as well as an act to retaliate against terror in a proper way.Joint effort in US will favour more security of our team as well as keep political presuure on.But this is far difficult to happen...

  10. I liked that 1 santosh...
By the way I dont completely agree that some action will be taken only when Pak screws up wit US , becoz even if something like that happens US cannot let Pakistan go off as they require some islamic country as ally.It is more as to how we can create political pressure in front of the world that will decide how intense US counterattacks or helps India Counterattack. As of now US would least like to interfere in such military action especially after BUSH being criticized for Iraq.Lets hope Obama has something in store for Indian perspective against terror(Pak aided terror)

  11. mate it depends on the extend of screwing up...if pakistan screws up real bad for eg. stops cooperating with them in the fight against taliban then they dont stand that much importance to them...that time we can turn the tables on pakistan....

  13. Well..Nice blog Yashis..

But I have little different opinion.

I guess Nehru had similar thoughts and thats why he pulled Kashmir issue in UN ( which is still unresolved ) for so called "Diplomatic" pressure.

I agree diplomacy works, BUT only upto certain extent.

You can shut a dog up just by talking. You need a stick to beat the sh!t out of him. AND if that dog is not afraid of your stick, there shouldnt be a second thought in hitting him.

Failure is not an option..At least not for India..Freedom doesnt come cheap.

EDIT: I dont know why my name reads as TTTTTT in previous post...loll

  14. mate i think the dragging of kashmir issue than to the UN was a mistake since during that time pakistan was weak since it had just partitioned from india. but now the things have changed and drastically so. As i mentioned it has nuclear weapons and india is on its way to becoming an economic superpower and putting a burden of war on us at this time isnt advisable. moreover the ill effects of war on even an economic giant like the US can be seen.
